Hawthorne strainer

A spring-edged strainer for holding back ice and larger solids when pouring from a shaker or mixing glass.

Rest it securely on a compatible vessel and hold it in place while pouring. Adjust the opening to control flow.

Use a separate fine strainer when the recipe specifically calls for removal of smaller particles.
