For ingredients specified by mass, including measured fruit, sugar or blender ice.

Place the scale on a stable surface, select the specified unit and tare the empty container before measuring.

Check the scale’s capacity and resolution. A gram measurement should not be silently replaced with a guessed liquid volume.
