Smoke and Mirrors

Aquavit supplies the spirit base between Campari and Cynar in this bitter stirred cocktail. Its formula uses two bitter liqueurs rather than sweet vermouth, and orange peel supplies the final fresh aroma.

Active preparation: 3 minutes

Ingredients

  • 37.5 ml Aquavit
  • 37.5 ml Campari
  • 22.5 ml Cynar
  • 1 piece Orange peel, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour aquavit, Campari and Cynar into a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir smoothly until cold, about 20–30 seconds.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe without ice.
  4. Express the orange peel over the surface and add it.
